Superstitous came from hearing the lyrics to Stevie Wonder's Superstition and my ASD riddled brain. This project was created as part of my 1st Year studies at Ravensbourne University. At the time I was very ambitious and would often take the first idea that came to mind and blow it way out of proportion and budget.
The original concept for Superstitious would take the lyrics from Superstition and rehash them by their literal understanding, similar to how Corridor Digital took the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) and created a short film out of them, only theirs flows much better. My understanding of it birthed a 70's buddy-cop narrative exploring a crime scene of an occult murder, the scene littered with superstitious iconography of broken looking glasses and sketchily placed ladders, finishing with one of the detectives turning on the other, revealing himself to be a member of the cult.
Sounds awesome right? Unfortunately due to my eagerness to get such an exciting story made, I hadn't put a single thought into how I was going to get this thing made in such a short amount of time. The production was rushed, sound was sloppy (due to my inexperience with sound equipment), ideas had to be changed for the fact that we had no money to pull off the huge production I had in mind.
Lessons were definitely learned that day, the most important being that You shouldn't rush into a production without having a solid and budget sensitive idea. But who knows? Maybe I'll revisit that idea in the future...
When you see things that you don't understand, then you suffer.
Two detectives hot on the trail of a cultist homicide group finally catch up to the latest crime scene, but the situation quickly goes ary when one of the detective's true intentions are shown.
